Why is test status N/A and not PASS if 1 step is N/A and all other steps are PASSED?

Terje Rørvik March 15, 2022

I'm using XRAY as test module in JIRA.

If you have a test with e.g. 3 test steps.

Two of the steps are set to status PASS.

One step is not executed(valid reason) and this step is set to N/A.

In my epinion this test should get status PASS, but it will acctualy get the status N/A!

It looks like the test is not done, which is not true.

Hello @Terje Rørvik

Welcome to the community.

You should send that question to the vendor of the third party application you are using to enable test tracking in Jira.

Alternately, tell us which of those third party test tracking applications you are using, and another user in this community might be able to provide some feedback.

The application is XRAY

Hi @Terje Rørvik and @Trudy Claspill

This should result from a wrong configuration of the step status "N/A".

If you need that a Step status is ignored, it is necessary to set the corresponding "Test Run Status" as PASSED, like this:

teststepstatus.png

The status "PASSED" only happens in a Test if all steps are PASSED.

So if you need to have a step to be ignored, that step needs to map to a PASSED Test Run Status.

Thank you.

Kind regards,
