Wiki markup output issues

I have created various versions of a page template (also need to create some more), however I'm having problems with the output.

I created page in rich text editor mode and saved it.
I then copied the wiki Markup version of the document and pasted it into the Global Templates admin page, saving it as a global template.

New docs created using the template vary:
Blue text for headings rather than the standard black text. Why?

Headings, 1, 2, 3 and so on do not have underlines on them to create the sections we need or at least, they do, then they don’t.

The section headings aspect is actually infuriating. Starts with no underline. I then add in the underline Markup (---<del>) to the template. Save the template. Create a new page > there are now two underlines. Why? When I then remove the Markup (</del>---) again, there are no lines again. Why?

Also, not all <h3. headings> seem to get an underline, again, completely inconsistent.

Sounds like you first created the page used to base the template off in a Space using the Documentation Theme. This theme adds underlines to heading styles 1 and 2. Hence, if you use that template to create a page in a Space not using the documentation Theme, the headings will not have underlines.

RE: heading colors – these are set at the Space level so chance are the Space you created a new page in with that template had a customized color scheme. See: http://confluence.atlassian.com/x/4hIC
