Will Re-Indexing help set resolution dates that were missing?

Hi,

 

I added post functions to my workflow to see the resolution dates when pulling reports. 

1. Will re-indexing show the resolution dates (including old closed work Items?)

2. I do not have the re-indexing option on my instance of Jira. Please Help.

Hi Annie,

if you added post functions to the workflow to set the value of the resolution just now, a re-index will not add in the dates or populate the resolution field for those that have already moved to Done.

You could use script runner that has a built-in script to help set those resolutions. Or you could modify your workflow to add a loop transition on the Done status to set the value of the resolution for you. You will not be able to change the date, it will put in the date at the time you run or execute the transition.

You could then do a bulk change function to execute the loop transition.

@Annie Kesari unfortunately, reindexing won't add the resolution date to the old issues.

For Cloud users, you can try our free addon (Quantify) that has a special tool to fix historical data -- resolution checkerBecause we deal with things like time in status, throughput and other Kanban metrics we have the data to fix this.
