Workflow drop down is showing steps not in the workflow

Valdis Mezdreis September 12, 2018

Hi Team

We are using JIRA Cloud

I have a project with a dedicated workflow associate - not used by any other project in the business

In certain statuses, the workflow drop down is not correctly displaying the transitions that are listed in the workflow for that status

In fact it is adding certain options in the workflow drop down that are not available under the project

For a particular Status (Need More Information) there is only one clear transition option called "information provided".

The project workflow allows for ALL statuses to transition to one of 7 statuses "On Hold" "Open", Request More Information", "CR rejected", "CR Withdrawn by Client", "Client declined to proceed" and "Closed"

So all up there are  8 options

The workflow drop down shows 6 options with 2 (Open and Withdrawn by Client) to the left

However the 6 options shown in the drop down are:

Closed - Correct

Client Declined to proceed - correct

On Hold - correct

CR Rejected - Correct

Request More Information - correct

Stop Progress - INCORRECT - this should be Information provided. Note "Stop progress does not exist anywhere in the workflow or the project

Any idea how this could be happening? I can;t seem to search our entire cloud base by transition name so i can;t even find the project that this could be associated to

When I run the transition step of Stop Progress all it does is set the ticket back to Open status

Thoughts appreciated

Hi @Valdis Mezdreis,

I assume that "Stop Progress" is just a transition name, not a status at all. The definition of the button isn´t the status per se, but the transition name. Hence, for example the transition "request more information" to "open" could have the transition name "Stop Progress". This would explain the described behaviour.

The circumstance that the other transition names are identically to the status and the respective one not, is just misleading configured by your administrator.

Best regards

Dennis

Thanks Dennis

I suspect that somewhere in another project they have used the same status (Request More information) and have a transition to status they have used form my project (information provided) but have named the transition differently to me.

Looking more closely the "Stop progress" transition name has my original transition description attached t it so it looks like a rename.

Is it possible to search for transition names by project so i can find the culprit and deal with them accordingly
