hello, I have a question (probably it is more than one :) )
Me and my team, we have several projects of different categories (agile, waterfall product, internal optimization, etc...). Projects are more than resources :) which is normal.
I needed to understand how better to organize the projects & tasks in Jira Software that:
- each person can follow his/her tasks and see the big picture (projects of the team)
- manager can see and report the work done/to be done/to be planned - in graphical/gantt/resources way like Microsoft project... or similar
We have Jira server and Portfolio for Jira installed.
Thank you in advance.
Hi Radu,
Another way to better organize work is by using different boards. In Jira Software, a board is not necessarily tied to a project - you can have a board that only shows a certain issue type inside a single project, or you can have a board that looks across multiple projects. This is all configured by the board's underlying JQL filter.
My suggestion is to use separate boards for managers (that might need to see multiple projects in the same board) and for developers (that usually need to see issues in the project they're working on). See below a documentation article on how to create separate boards:
Also, note that Jira Software's reports are tied to the specific board.
thank you Claudiu,
I'll play with these Boards to see what I can get.
I'm trying as well Profields add-on - to add additional fields to the project, that I can see deadlines + tasks.
If you have any example or the Board (with no confidential data :) ), it will be great.
Thank you

Hi @Sergiu Munteanu ,
One way is to configure your JIRA dashboard with the required gadgets that are available in native JIRA and those provided through Atlassian marketplace third party apps
