Did you mean:

connect Jira to multiple GitHub Organisations

Richard Foxworthy June 3, 2018

I have a Jira cloud deplyment from my organisation. We work on GitHub repos that are split across more than one GitHub organisation.

I've succesfully used the DVCS integration to link my Jira environment with one GitHub org, and the repos within it, but cant figure out how to add that same Jira environment with my other GitHub orgs.

On the Jira side I have several projects defined - -essentially I want to simultaneously link one Jira project with a GitHub org, and another Jira project with a separate GitHub org.

Is that possible?

Thanks

Hi Richard, how are you?

Yes, we can link Jira Software with multiple GitHub repositories/organizations. You can check more information on how to connect Jira with a GitHub organization here.

Regarding your question: "I want to simultaneously link one Jira project with a GitHub org, and another Jira project with a separate GitHub org. Is that possible?"

When we link Jira and a GitHub, there is no native feature on Jira where we can explicitly relate projects to repositories/organizations. That 'link' is created when we refer a Jira issue on commits or when we use smart commit. So, for now, that link will have to be created manually using that smart commit feature.

Currently, the permissions settings available for the Development Tools are very limited but we have this open feature request which aims to increase the options we have regarding that matter. I believe that this feature request might help you to restrict the use of a certain GitHub Organization to a specific project/groups.

That being said, we strongly recommend you to access that feature request page, click on vote for that to increase its relevance and click on Start watching this issue to receive all the updates about that. Also, we would appreciate your feedback on that feature, you can do this by leaving a comment on the ticket, this helps us prioritize and understand the use case of the feature request.

If you are not familiar with our Feature Request Policy, you can learn more about it here.

Let me know if that helped you.
