copy a custom field from epic to its stories

Hi,

We have a custom field for "Feature" (it's a label-like field and we make sure to have a single value on it). I need to associate the value of this field to every story linked to the epic to enable reporting. 

How can this be done?

May I ask on why is this needed? Epics are supposed to be "high" level requirements which will be broken down to Stories which can also be broken down to Sub-Tasks which then again, should have all the detailed information. In your case, the epic name should be like "New Feature".
