create a new mandatory single select custom filed

Hey, 
I use JIRA (Not plans) and need to create a new custom field for team selection with dropdown:

- mandatory field

- only one team can be selected from the dropdown at a time

Right now I created one I have only 3 fields (no option to set as mandatory, no single select - multiple teams can be selected at the same time - not ideal)

Hi Maria,

to create a new field you should go to admin settings --> issue --> custom field.
In this section you can click on "create a new field" and choose the type of field, in your case it should be "select list single choice".

You have to add the new field to your screens in project settings --> screens.

To make it required, you should go to project settings --> fields. In this section you have all the field for your project, find your new field and make it required.

One more question - how can I now drag the new field up, so when someone is creating a new issue it is in the first 5 places as opposed to all the way down (given it is mandatory, it'll help a lot)

Hi Maria, great!

You should go to project settings --> screens.

When you are in the field list in the particular screen you can drag and drop every field to choose their position. You should click on this button and drag the field where you prefer.

No problem, you have to click on the screen scheme, then you should see 3 screen (create, view, edit).

They can be 3 different schemes or the same 1 screen. When you click on the screen you should see all the field that are associate to that screen.

Hey I used a different path:
- project settings 
- Issues
-Layout

and then changes layouts for different issue types.
