creating a new sprint results in sprint in different project (with differing sprint #)

Thomas Bonnet June 21, 2018

Using JIRA 7.3 we are running several projects with differing sprint numbering on one JIRA installation.

Now we saw the effect, that when a new sprint was created in project A JIRA created a new sprint following numbering of project B.

Creating additional sprints in project A now results in new sprints in project B (assumed, the sprint numbering follows project B numbering).

How can this happen? How can I switch back in project A so that newly created sprints again will belong to project A and also follow the sprint numbering of project A?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

At least we now found a way how to correct it:

  • we reopened the last sprint of project A
  • we moved all our issues from the wrongly created sprint to the reopened one
  • we then deleted the wrongly created sprints
  • creating a new sprint then resulted in the correct sprint number

Yet I still would like to know, how this can have happened ...
