I have 7 custom fields, 3 available on "Story" issue type, 4 available on "Bug" issue type, configured via contexts in custom fields. I'm using one screen for "Create Issue" for all issuetypes, all 7 fields are added there.
I also want to configure only necessary fields in Create popup, so "Story" and "Bug" have these custom fields available in popup. I'm trying to do it via "..."->Configure fields -> Custom fields and check only necessary fields for both issue types. However it doesn't work this way. It seems that Jira remembers only one configuration for certain issuetype and resets the others-> when I switch between issue types on "Create" popup I have to configure fields again, they are not saved.
Should it work this way ? or should I go via configuring separate screens for each issue type ?
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
The option Configure Fields > Custom Fields on the top right of the create screen is for each issue type, and is a user-level configuration.
It is basically for a user to set their preference to view only the required fields on the create screen. The fields you select via this option for a given issue type will be visible to you only.
It would be better setup separate screens for different issue types so the changes will be implemented for all users.
Thanks!
Hi @Karan Sachdev ,
Many thanks for the answer !
I'm aware that mentioned configuration is a user-level one. The deal is that it does not work - when you change issuetype, previously chosen fields are no longer chosen.
and yes, re-configuring separate screens now.
