When you open the project dropdown in the jira sidebar, my browser shows an autocomplete dropdown for the project search field.
This menu pops up in front of the projects in the jira dropdown, so i can't select any projects.
If that autocomplete could be disabled on the project search field, the problem would be fixed
Hello @Bert Verhelst ! As I understand, the suggestions are covering a good part of the User Interface, keeping it from their optimal usage.
Currently, there is a report aiming straight into this issue. You can look at it here:
Since there is no workaround to this, I would like to ask you something:
- When exactly do the suggestions show up?
- Do they appear when you hover your mouse pointer over the search field or when you click on it?
As of today, the best course of action would be to vote and watch the report linked above. Voting for it increases the issue visibility and watching it will keep you up to date with everything posted there.
Let us hear from you!
The suggestions show up when I click the project drop down. You can see where my cursor is in the screenshot. I clicked at that location.
I do not need to hover nor click into the search field for the suggestions to show up. They show up automatically when opening that project drop down menu
Thx for the reply, I voted for the issue and ill wait for a fix.

So I was shocked to see this is still an issue not only for the Project select, but also for the Board select for Chrome users... I do have a wonky but easy workaround for you though... when you have the pop-up appear with the autofill, type ANY LETTER on your keyboard, and then press the backspace key to delete that letter. The autofill should remove itself (after providing suggestions for whatever letter you entered) and you should be able to select your project.
Definitely not a pretty hack, but it works for me!
