edit permissions for description fiels only to the reporter

I want to restrict the permission to edit description only to the reporter of the ticket, rather than all users

Jira does not do field-level restrictions.

The usual workarounds are

1. Move the edit into the workflow (don't put description on the edit screens, put transitions in the workflow that allow you to edit it, and use conditions to protect them)

2. Install a plugin to fix it - the field-security plugin is the usual one, as that's what it's designed for

Nic, Field Security doesn't include the description. The first option is a good workaround, though.

We also do not want everyone to be able to edit an issue, but users with the developer role can do it and the reporter also. But users with the user role can't.
