enabling a custom plugin

Does enabling a custom plugin require a jira restart or is it picked up automatically?

Depends on the version of Jira and the type of plugin. More recent Jiras do not need restarting as long as the plugin is "type 2"

I just enabled it and corresponding logs started appearing in the logs, so i assume it did not require a restart.
