I am trying to configure the fields for my issue layout (using the new issue view), but my changes are not applied to the issue view. Below is a screenshot of my selected primary fields for the "Scrum Bug Screen", I have confirmed that this is the screen we show for bugs. And then a screenshot of the actual issue view: it does not match the primary fields selected, specifically the "Story Points" field is missing from the issue view and does not even show up in the secondary fields, which leads me to believe it may be missing at another level entirely. Is this user error or a bug? I am a board-level admin but not a project admin if that is relevant.
I have the same issue. The Story Points shows in the configuration, but not in the actual issue screen. Based on thge above, the problem seems to be with the new vs. old JIRA. How does one recognise which one I have?
Hi Alexis - Welcome to the Community!
The screenshot you show only applies to the "new" JIRA issue view. If you are using the "old" JIRA Issue view, you will need to go to Configure Fields to make it show up when in Edit mode.
I hope that helps!

Hi John, I am using the new issue view as I said in my original post. Any other suggestions?

Sorry, misread that. You will need to edit the screen itself to add the field. If you go to Project Settings, then select Screens.
Once there, select the screen scheme and then the actual screen itself.
Once there, you should be able to add the field to the screen.
Let me know if you have problems with it.

Hi John, I am not able to click in to edit the screens (I can click into the scheme, to view the operations, but that's it). I assumed this was because I'm using the new issue view, but perhaps it's because I'm not a Project Admin. I'll get that permission and then try again. Thanks for your help!

Yep, it looks like this: (clicking any of the rows in the table doesn't do anything)

Nope, there isn't anything to the right of what's in the screenshot.

Did you check the Project permissions? I have not seen that before. If you have Administer Projects on that project, then I would open a support ticket with Atlassian.

I have the same issue as above, where Story Points is showing as a Primary field when I look at the "Issue layout" in project settings, but this field is hidden on all tickets (Bugs, Tasks, Sub-tasks) except for Story tickets. I am using the Cloud version of Classic JIRA.
Here is what it looks like in "Issue layout" under project settings:
In "Screens" there is no ability or option to edit. How can I make the "Story Points" field appear on ALL tickets, not just Story tickets?
Thanks!

Take a look at this thread and see if it helps any.
In a nutshell, is your Bug issue type a Sub-task type? If yes, Jira does not allow Story Points for Sub-tasks.
If not a Sub-task, go to Custom Fields and see if you have another Story Points field there.

When I click on "Configure fields" there is no Story Point option. Why?

This is from a post from me up above:
The screenshot you show only applies to the "new" JIRA issue view. If you are using the "old" JIRA Issue view, you will need to go to Configure Fields to make it show up when in Edit mode.
See if that helps you find them on the old issue view.

I don't see this link. I am an administrator of the project, but not of JIRA. do I need to be an admin to make these changes on my specific project?

Could this have to do with the "Scrum Default Screen Scheme" which was selected when the project was created? Will we be able to add Story Points to other tickets besides Story tickets with this scheme?

It depends on the Issue Type Screen Scheme. That scheme links screens to particular Issue Types (like Bugs). Your system administrator should be able to answer that for you.

Try to call "Where is my field" option on issue.
If field has no value it is not shown. Make sure that story point is not empty for this issue.

This doesn't make sense to me. How am I supposed to add a value for the field if it is never visible? It doesn't show in the right side column even if I click "Show more".

Value for filed could be added:
So, if there is no value, this field is not shown on screen and this is a good idea.
