how do i close the project

i try to findout how to close the project, but i found only Delete button. am not sure it same meaning?

In our setup, we created a Permission Scheme that only allows "Read" access to the project (cannot create new issues, transition issues, etc...). We then change the "Category" of this project to something like "Inactive". This is what we are using.

not exactly as i mention, in my company use JIRA for all a lot of project. so, if not have feature to close project it show all of existing project in list. I need to display only active project and the other in-active be query from some way like report.

You can add an additional step on what we did by adding a "label" on Inactive Projects. This way, you can do a JQL which will also give you an option to "export" them for reporting purposes. This is the only way I can see you can do it.

Gabrielle is doing exactly what the standard approach is. There's no "close project" function, as it's something you need to define for yourself really. So, you need to decide what your users can do in a "closed" project, build a permission scheme for it and apply it to your "closed" projects. Your main decision is probably "who can browse closed projects"

Hey Nathawat;

You simply can't "close" a project in JIRA.
if you delete a project it's deleted. You can't close a project in the classic project meaning.
When you want a project with start and end date you should use the versions of a project or configure issue types with name project.

Projects would be in this case like departments or products.
and you issue types could be projects, mile stones, task, sub-task to break down your issue-like project.

f.e.
Project ~ DEV
Issue types = Project - is blocked by Issue types = Mile stones - is related to Issue types Task  which have subtasks for a assignee based breakdown.
