I've installed and configured Jira with the default localhost:8080 Base URL. i'd like to now change it to a base test url for my environment. I've tried to change it logging in as the global admin and edit settings but once i call the new base url from my browser it doesn't find it and its still seems to listen for url localhost:8080.

I'm I missing a change somewhere else?

Hi Robert,

welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Setting the Base URL in General Configuration is the right place and from what you wrote it should be fine.

In case there is a reverse proxy involved in your deployment a little more adjustment might be needed.

Please refer to the following article which might be of help:

Cheers,
Daniel
