Hi @Manisha sinha ,

As others reply, it's not possible with native functionalities.

I recommend you try our free app called Issue Templates Agent for Jira. You can define as many templates as you need for the pair "project+issue type". They are searchable on the Create issue screen. First, the user has to put into the Summary "template" or keyword defined in the configuration. After it, the template is automatically applied on the Create issue screen. If there's more than one template that fits conditions, the dialog opens with a list of all templates.

If you have any additional questions or need support with configuration, you can book a session with us: calendly.com/appsvio.

I hope that it helps.

Best regards,

Kate

Hello @Manisha sinha 👋

Another alternative for templating bug reports is to use our Issue Templates for Jira app as suggested above 😉

Apart from this basic use case to automatically populate description with a predefined value, the app allows you to copy sub-tasks or more complex structures, such as epics or linked issues.

Although the app requires the use of a dedicated Create from template screen (available to all users from the Jira top bar), I'm sure it will be interesting thanks to powerful variables or smart defaults that allow you to calculate field values to support more advanced use cases.

Feel free to try it yourself and contact us in case of any questions!

Cheers,
Aleksandra from Deviniti

Hi @Manisha sinha ,

you need to define a specific context to all those fields and define a default value. Please keep in mind that you can't define different context for the same field for different issue types within the same project in JIRA.

Hope this helps,

Fabio

Hi @Manisha sinha

What type of project are you using: company-managed or team-managed?

If you are using team-managed, the project admin can set a default value for the Description, by each issue type.  To learn more, please look here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-an-issues-fields-in-team-managed-projects/

If you are using company-managed, please see the other responses in this thread.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hello @Manisha sinha

I don't see anything out of the box.  Have you looked at the Atlassian Marketplace?  Here's a query I would use.

Fabio is correct, though you can also use addons like Templates for Jira (cloud) to create hyper-specific templates (with a lot of controls).  It's not a free addon, but it's very powerful.
