I have granted users Administrator role on my Jira board.  They are still not able to adjust columns.  The Add Column button is grayed out for them.  Does something else need done?

HI @Thomas Benadum

In Jira , granting users the "Administrator" role at the board level doesn't necessarily provide them with the ability to configure columns on the board. Board configuration, including adding or removing columns, is typically controlled by the board's filter.

To adjust columns on a Jira board in Jira Cloud, users need the appropriate permissions. Here are the steps you can take to ensure that users can adjust columns:

Project Permissions:

Make sure that users have the necessary permissions for the project associated with the board.
Go to your Jira project settings.
Navigate to "Permissions" and ensure that users have the "Manage Sprints" permission.
Board Permissions:

Check the board permissions to make sure that users have the necessary permissions to configure the board.
Go to your board.
Click on "Board" in the top-left corner, then select "Configure."
In the board configuration, navigate to the "Permissions" tab.
Make sure that users have the necessary permissions, particularly the permission to "Configure Board."
Issue Permissions:

Ensure that users have the necessary permissions for the issues on the board. If they can't see or edit certain issues, they won't be able to configure those issues on the board.
Go to your Jira project settings.
Navigate to "Permissions" and ensure that users have the appropriate issue-related permissions.
Board Filter:

Confirm that the board filter includes the issues that users want to configure.
Go to your board.
Click on "Board" in the top-left corner, then select "Configure."
In the board configuration, navigate to the "General" tab and check the filter configured for the board.
Jira Global Permissions:

Ensure that users have the necessary global permissions in Jira.
Go to Jira Settings (cog icon) > System > Global Permissions.
Check the "Jira Administrators" group and ensure that users who need to configure boards are part of this group.
After checking and adjusting these settings, users with the appropriate permissions should be able to configure columns on the board.

Hello @Thomas Benadum

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Can you check the View All Projects page (under the Projects menu) and tell us what it says there for the Type of your project?

Also, are you on a paid or Free version of Jira Cloud?
