we want to change the default workflow within our jira instance to better suit our business needs however we have been using jira for a while and have a lot of history within it.

At present, project 'abcd' is associated with 'Default Workflow Scheme' and a default workflow 'jira'. We cannot alter this default workflow and scheme.
In order to alter the workflow we have to create a Custom_Workflow_Scheme and a Custom_Workflow and associate it with the project 'abcd'

Following steps are done...
1> Created a Workflow Scheme: abcd_Workflow_Scheme (Inactive at present)
2> Created a custom workflow : abcd_Custom_Workflow (Inactive at present)
3> Associated Issue Types with the abcd_Custom_Workflow

ToDo...
1> Change the workflow scheme associated with 'abcd' project:
To do this, go to Project -> abcd -> Workflows and click on the Change link next to the 'Default Workflow Scheme'
It prompts me to take a backup, so I did not proceed further...

How do I as administrator make a backup? I do not see any backup mechanism within my console

Jira OnDemand comes with a bundled backup manager. This can be found in your administration panel. Please see the following page for additional information: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Exporting+issues
