how to change default request participants for specific components

I want to assign have different request participants added by default onto any Jiras with a certain component selected. I don't see a way to do that on this page describing how to manage components. Is there a way to do this?

Components do not tie directly to request participants unfortunately.  However, depending upon how many components you're dealing with, you may be able to achieve this with automation.  Here's a sample rule:

Of course, if you're dealing with dozens of components, this will not be an option.

You can do this using automation. Create one that looks for the specific component when the issue is created and if so, then add the user to the request participants field. Something like this should do it:
