https://www.k15t.com/software/backbone-issue-sync might be an approach (not sure if that 100% fits to your needs)

You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.

Nice idea, but it doesn't give you HA. If one node fails, your users have to know to manually switch to the other, and your data goes out of sync.
