how to populate a JIRA issue field with content from an email?

Hi, Is it possible to populate a custom field with the content from an email?

Context: I'm sending via Jira automate an email with a quote for a service to a customer. I will like to populate a custom field with the answer of the customer. Yes I accept the quote or No, I don't accept the quote.

If it helps, I use also the App OUtlook Email for Jira

Is it possible?

Thank you

Hi there @Loic ,

I assume you're using Microsoft 365 for Jira or Outlook Email for Jira by yasoon (the company I work for :)).

If you're manually adding emails from Outlook to the issue, this would be possible.

However, if you're linking the email via Jira Automation, the only way to populate a custom field would be to search for keywords in the email body or comment, as @John Funk has mentioned. If you’d like more guidance, feel free to book a support session with us here: Meet Microsoft 365 for Jira

Happy Monday,

Best,

HI Loic,

Basically when a user replies to to an email from Jira, the response will be added as a comment. You can then create an automation rule that checks when a comment is added for certain words. Then you can populate the custom field based on the responses.

Though it is not the exact same thing, take a look at this article to see who to create the majority of the automation rule.
