how to show total tracking time of all tasks in Epic ?

it works fine for tasks with sub-tasks but not for epic with tasks

how to do it for Epic with task to show all tracking time in tasks into Epic ?

Hello @Tomasz Swiniarski 

Jira does not automatically roll up time spent from child issues to Epics. If you want that done you would need to create an Automation Rule to do it.

The native aggregate field for Time Spent does not appear to be a field that can be directly editing in an issue through Automation. It seems the only way to edit it is through the Work Log function.

So, to roll up the time spent on child issues to the parent task you would need to either:

1. Use automation to Log Work against the parent Epic each time work is logged against a child issue, or

2. Use automation to Log Work against the parent Epic just one time, perhaps when all the child issues are set to Done and the Epic is closed.

I've been looking for an answer to this for a VERY long time now. Here's the automation I ended up creating and it has been working perfectly for my Epics.

You are a hero! Thank you for this, I've tried every plug in and app and they're all over kill for what I need. All I've wanted is a simple total of all child items to an epic.

I can recommend the Cost Tracker for Jira Cloud app for time reports.

You can also make informative cost reports in the add-on and estimate the time spent on an epic and its cost.

For example, we described in the article how you can estimate the cost of a sprint.

You may want to try the Clockwork Automated Time Tracking & Timesheets Pro App.

Clockwork allows you to view the total time spent for all Child Issues of an Epic and other Issue Types.

This total time is visible right on the Issue panel, as shown:

All you need to do is click on the tree icon as shown above and you have this information.
