Hi all,
New user.
I am trying to create an onboarding project under a business project.
Essentially the "tasks" that I wish to create will be standard parent tasks that have a series of subtasks underneath each.
E.G A, B and C - are the standard onboarding parent task options that would be assigned once a sale has been made. Is there any way to create fixed parent tasks without having to clone in each new instance?
Also as the onboarding continues I would hypothetically want A2 B2 and C2 parent tasks in the next section (column).
I am sure there is a simple way to do this and apologise if I haven't explained myself enough!
Cheers,
Hi Patrick - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
You can't clone an entire project per se, but you can create an automation rule that runs when you create a new project. In that rule, you can create multiple issues.
Here is more information about Automation for Jira to help get you started:
There are two types of automation:
Automation Basics: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/guides/expand-jira/automation
You can do this via global rules to apply to all projects also. You'll need to be a Jira Admin/Site Admin, go to Jira Settings > System > Automation Rules (left-hand menu).
For more on using Automation For Jira see these help pages.
Jira Automation Template Library to help get you started quickly:

another way you can try is add-on BPM (Business Process Manager) for Jira Cloud. It allows creating onboarding template and run it once you need.
Read more about organizing onboarding process in Jira in this article How to set up Employee Onboarding in Jira Cloud
Hope it helps. This add-on developed by my team, so if you'll have questions just write me.
