Hi there. this may be a simple question, but im not able to answer it.
i have a team who has a new jira project, and within this project, there are two boards.
a single task has been created now, and it is showing on both boards.
what settings do i need to change / update to make this ticket only show on one board?
Hi @Nicky Ilsley, welcome to the community!
The most important thing to understand about boards is that a board is only a visual representation of an issue filter. That's why boards can contain issues from multiple projects. So if you see the issue on both boards, it means that the issue is returned by both board filters. I guess you can imagine how to fix that. You would need to adjust your board settings / the board filter. But before you do that, ask yourself what makes the most sense here. What is the purpose of the two boards? Why should the issue not be on both boards? Maybe you can give us a bit more context. :)
Best, Max
thankyou for your feedback.
the board is for a data migrations team, that have taken over a project which should be separated, as its two completely separate topics.
im just not sure on the type of query to use in the filter, would you be able to help me with an example please?

Sure, can you post the current filters for both boards and maybe provide more feedback on what you want to include in the boards or exclude? It's crucial to understand what is available in your project (like issue types) and what could help us split issues.
These are a few questions I would ask.
By the way, there's an extensive and excellent documentation about JQL and what fields and functions it offers: What is advanced searching in Jira Cloud?
That might be already helpful. :)

Hi @Nicky Ilsley welcome to the Atlassian Community!
The board or jira administrator needs to change the filter of the boards and separate issues for board A from issues for board B.

Thank you for the welcome and your advice, i thought it may have something to do with the filter.
I'm set as a jira administrator, so i could make the change, but could you perhaps help with the type of query i would use please?

That depends on the requirements, within the same project:

I have a project with 2 boards. I use the Component field in Jira to separate the issues for each board.
