I find it quite confusing why Jira returns 404 for Jira project's root pages, such as:
https://[project-subdomain].atlassian.net/jira/software/projects/[Project-code]
eg.
https://sampleproject.atlassian.net/jira/software/projects/SMPL
Why not adding a page with the links to the project boards and other assets?
I've been 'strugling' with this too (but it never bothered me too much to raise a ticket 😅)
@internetyev2 now that you mention it, I've made a quick test and it seems that this is only a problem with software projects. 👀
For example, if you try this link/format on Jira business, JSM or JPD projects, you'd immediately get redirected to a board, queue or view.
I've also tried checking if there's an open bug or suggestion on the topic, but couldn't find anything related to it.
Anyway, I've reached out to the support team and someone should probably take a look at this in a day or 2.
Cheers,
Tobi
If I understand correctly, trying to type out a URL to your Jira Cloud site doesn't redirect as expected when using the /jira/projects/PROJECTKEY format. In my site, it seems to load the top navigation bar, but that's it. This path isn't expected to work in this manner though. Instead try using a different path such as
/browse/PROJECTKEY
This should automatically change the URL path into a different format for landing on that project, depending on the project type (software, business, service management, etc).
Try this, and let me know if that helps. If it doesn't I'd like to try to understand better how this poses a problem for you. Is this happening because you want to navigate to a different project from the page you are on, but don't want to navigate to the Projects page to reach it? Just trying to better understand the cause here as well.
