Unable to update "Project Type" drop down for my project as an administrator.
I am able to edit and configure workflows but not project type field where I want to update the drop down with more values.
Hello @Shalini Banga
Thank you for reaching out to the Atlassian Community. I understand you're experiencing difficulties updating the "Project Type" dropdown for your project, even though you have administrative permissions to edit and configure workflows. Let's address this issue step-by-step.
Understanding Project Type in Jira:
Project Type Definition: In Jira, the "Project Type" is a predefined setting that determines the default features and templates available for a project. It is typically set during project creation and is not designed to be changed afterward through the user interface.
Limitations on Editing Project Type: Unlike other project settings, the "Project Type" is not a field that can be edited or have additional values added to it post-creation. This is because it fundamentally alters the structure and available features of the project.
Possible Solutions:
Create a New Project: If you need a different project type, consider creating a new project with the desired type. You can then migrate issues from the old project to the new one if necessary.
Custom Fields and Screens: If your goal is to add more values or options to a dropdown field within the project, you might be referring to a custom field rather than the "Project Type." In this case, you can:
If these steps do not resolve your issue, please provide more details about the specific field or dropdown you are trying to modify, and I will be happy to assist further.
