text ~ "java.lang.RuntimeException" (Searchung this in JQL query) and receives an error

arorarahul April 12, 2018

I am unable to add  "java.lang.RuntimeException" in the comments or search this text in JQL query of JIRA.

Getting error: Error occurred communicating with the server. Please reload the page and try again.

Do we know what can cause this error?

@Andy Heinzer My Local test environment isn't creating an issue which is on the same version as of my Production environment (7.3.8)

Proxy setting is enabled in both environments. I am suspecting some issue with one of the plugins. I tried disabling/enabling few of them but so far unable to solve it

I can not seem to replicate this problem in my Jira instance of 7.8.1.  I am able to make that JQL search correctly.   I also have not been able to locate any bugs documenting this specific problem.  Could you let me know what version of Jira you are using?

Also have you tried to bypass any proxy/SSL in your environment to see if you can replicate this problem when accessing the Jira site directly?   You can try to follow the steps in How to bypass a Proxy and SSL to test network connectivity to test this.

Another approach here that might help us narrow the focus would be to try to disable all user plugins in Jira to see if you can still replicate this problem.   Steps on how to do this are in Disabling and enabling add-ons.   Some plugins to Jira can cause unexpected behavior, so if you cannot replicate this problem when Jira starts without these plugins, then it could be a sign that one of those plugins is to blame for this behavior.
