We suddenly have a new field called Resolutions on our board and the resolution field is mandatory.

We don't resolve tickets as soon as we create them (we kind of work them first), so this is kind of blocking us.

How do we remove Resolution or make it optional?

Hi @Dave Corson-Knowles,

Along with @Robert Dzido _Almarise_ 's answer, if the Resolution(system field) added to any screen it becomes mandatory by default irrespective of screen and  it can't be made as optional

It's also advisable to add Resolution field only in "Resolve issue Screen"(where you close issues with resolution) but not on Create/Edit screen

Hi Leo-

Is it possible for you to show the exact path to get to the point: "..add Resolution field only in "Resolve issue Screen"(where you close issues with resolution) but not on Create/Edit screen"?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

If you have Resolution field on issue create screen it becomes required. Please remove it from Create Issue screen and it should help.

Hi Dave,

head over to the field configuration associated with the issue type and change the "required" setting.

Best, Max

€dit, like Leo said if we're speaking about the system field "Resolution" and not any other custom field you will have to remove it from the screen as he describes the field behaviour correctly. This does not apply to custom fields. :)
