Hi team,

Currently we are using jira software 7.6 and we are planning to upgrade the jira to latest version.  In plan your upgrade it is recommended to use 8.3.2 whereas in the official website  the latest version is 8.4.2.

Please let us know to which version we need to upgrade

Hi @Naresh Kuberan

Upgrade to 8,3 Doesn't Upgrade the directly to 8.4   8.3 Is Ok to Do one thing Firstly Upgrade 7.6 to 8.3  Ofter Chek the All Compatibilities.

If You Upgrade the Latest Version you Will Get Some Bugs

Thanks,

PVS

Yes That Is also  Good,   This is the Major Upgrade 7.6.* to 8.0.* , and then from 8.0.* to 8.3.* or 8.4.* This Steps You Will Follow

HI @Naresh Kuberan

Welcome to the community!

It's not like always you can do the Jira upgrade to the latest version but you should consider all the parameters like supported platforms (database, java version, memory, fixed bug), release notes etc..then decide.

Also, make sure that you should choose the latest Jira version which is not affected by any security vulnerability.

you can have a look at the below Atlassian articles.

Normally, my method of upgrade is to move from one big release to another big release to check what have changed and then further to a small version;

say from 7.6.* to 8.0.* , and then from 8.0.* to 8.3.* or 8.4.*  ( as you will)
