Recently updated to JIRA 9.12.5, and noticed there's a currentproject add on that is not compatible

Pierre Ibrahim March 21, 2024

Hello all,

We recently updated our sandbox environment to JIRA 9.12.5 with a prod update to follow soon, however in testing I've seen that there is a currentproject add-on.

I was under the impression that the currentproject() function was just native to jira, however upon googling it looks like I was wrong in assuming so, moreover, that add-on is no longer compatible with our version of jira (see screenshot below)

Now here is where this gets much more interesting, googling the developer and the app key gets me to the following plugin: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1210758?tab=overview&hosting=datacenter which is not at all the currentProject() function.

Does anyone know what's going on with this add-on? Is it safe to continue using it?

Closing the loop on this, I reached out to Votazz support (the current developer for the currentProjectFunction) and they confirmed that with the Jira server end of life, they are no longer supporting the currentProjectFunction and have indeed pivoted the plugin to the WFH - Daily Wellness Monitor plugin.

Hi @Pierre Ibrahim

How did you find out that plugin is now called "WFH - Daily Wellness Monitor for Jira" on the Marketplace?

If that's really the case I recommend you get in touch with the vendor https://docs.votazz.co/support/. For me it seems very strange to "transform" a rather small plugin with a single purpose into a bigger and paying app.
If your current version is still working I would not worry about it but on the long term, with a next Jira upgradr it might not be working at all anymore.

Apart from that: I know other apps provide similar functionality but I'm not sure if you will find a free app.
JQL Booster Pack is one of them. "project IN recentProjects(1)" will return issue of your most recently visited project

Hi @Charlie Misonne , I found it through googling the developer, but interestingly enough, since our prod environment is not updated yet, going to manage apps and looking at the currentProjectFunction add on shows me the following

currentproject WFH.png

I'll talk with my support team about the JQL Booster Pack, problem being a lot of our filters and some python scripts utilize the currentProject() function so we'll need to brainstorm on how to accommodate for that. Thank you though, I appreciate your response!

Ok!

In case you need to replace the JQL functions in saved fillters, boards etc.

I wrote this article a long time ago: it's about the rename of an issue type. But you could use it to idenitfy filter using the currentProject() function too.
