Removal of option values from a selection list via Scriptrunner

Hello,

I had to delete around 20 options from a selection list (with over 100 options) and I used the Scriptrunner console to solve this task. Some of the options had already be assigned to some issues.

I followed (more or less) the proposal in this thread:

I tested the little script at first by deleting two option values and it worked well. The Jira system seemed not to be impacted negatively, for example I could use the issue search to get a list of specific issues. After a while I started the script again to remove the other options too.

A little later I reached the message, that the users were not able to search for issues because of a inconsistent indexing. I assume, that this was caused by my removals before, but I don't know why. What went wrong and what should I have paid attention to?

I ask because I would like to avoid such effects in the future...

BTW: After restarting Jira the system worked correctly again.
