Remove Jira Cloud from Excel

Jira Cloud opens each time I open an excel file. I do not use Jira, I never downloaded it, it's not connected to Excel in Jira Connected apps and I do not have it as an add-in in my excel.

I can't find any way to remove this from my files, apart from the inspect solution presented, but I don't want to have to inspect every single excel file I open. Any new and proved solutions? I saw another thread about this topic, but there's no actionable and proven solution apart from the inspect file, which I don't want to have to do every single time.

Thank you for your clarifications!

Hi @Ana Rodrigues,

This is likely caused by an Excel add-in or embedded connection that's not immediately visible. Here are some solutions to try:

Check Excel Add-ins:

  1. Go to File > Options > Add-ins
  2. Look at both "COM Add-ins" and "Excel Add-ins" sections
  3. Check for any Atlassian/Jira related entries and disable them

Check Data Connections:

  1. Go to Data tab > Queries & Connections
  2. Look for any Jira-related queries or connections
  3. Delete any you find

Registry/System Level:

  1. Check Windows Programs & Features for any Atlassian software
  2. Look in your browser extensions for Jira-related add-ons that might be interfering

Excel Template Issue:

  • Try creating a completely new Excel file from scratch
  • If new files don't trigger Jira, the issue might be in your default template

Nuclear Option:

  • Office repair: Control Panel > Programs > Microsoft Office > Change > Quick Repair

The issue is usually a hidden data connection or add-in that got installed somehow. The add-ins menu should reveal the culprit.

If none of these work, feel free to DM me with more details about your setup!

Hope this helps!

Hi Vitalii,

I did as suggested and below is the status

Check Excel Add-ins: No Excel add-ins

Check Data Connections: No Data Connections

Registry/System Level: No Windows Programs & Features with Atlassian software nor any Jira-related add-on in my browser

The new excel file does not prompt the Jira panel, but the Jira panel appears in documents I use every day to which I did not make changes related to Jira. I'll DM you, because I'm lost with this and it's annoying me to have to inspect a file each time I open it.

Thank you for your help,

Ana
