Removing a tab from the screen

Hi,

during a migration we placed several fields with the data from the legacy system on the dedicated tab on the issue screen.

People are asking to hide this tab now.

When we remove the tab all its fields disappear too.

A small test reveals that the search for the issue with a string that was in one of the fields on this tab can be found. Obviously, the string in question is not displayed on the screen because the field is not there anymore.

Questions:

what is the proper way to hide the tab with the fields while retaining the data?

what are the consequences of the removal of the tab from the issue screen?

Thank you.

Hi @Inna S

If you remove the tab, the field values are still there! No data is lost just because a field is no longer displayed. and of course you can search for the field values (and also display them via the results list)

Screens only determine which field values are displayed where (or can be changed). There is no data loss if fields are not displayed.

If you no longer want to see a field value in a tab, simply move it to the general tab. if there is only one tab, only one will be displayed.

Thank you, @Salzi .

This is consistent with my experiment:

The data is retained, the issue could be found when searched for the field content, and this content will not be visible on the issue details screen, obviously.

In order to see the value, one would need to add the field to the search results view, I guess.
