We have acquired a Jira Instance with the following hierarchy
Initiative > Epic > Epic*
We want to rename the issue type EPIC to Feature. Looks like a simple change, but I'm concerned with the knock-on effects
Thoughts?
Hello @Lee Street
You can do this: This change will apply to all company-managed projects using the same issue type scheme. When renaming, consider that the "Epic Name" field might still retain its original name in some contexts, such as exports or older JQL queries, but the overall functionality and user experience will be updated to reflect the new name.
Hi @Lee Street welcome to the Atlassian community.
This is a great question and a common one for teams looking to refine their Jira hierarchy! You're absolutely right to be cautious about the 'knock-on effects' of renaming an issue type, especially one as central as 'Epic'. While Jira handles the core rename relatively smoothly, it's crucial to understand where it impacts your existing setup and data.

@Lee Street What is the current hierarchy? Initiative > Epic > Epic*?
if so, do you want to rename Epic* as Feature? if not, then What is the Epic*
