I'm tired of fixing tickets made by others (and sometimes by me) and moving description from the Environment field to the Description field actually. They now look very similar and environment goes first, so people see huge text box and start filling the description there. When it was smaller it wasn't a problem and you could still enter a lot of information there if needed. In the screenshot you can see how the Environment field is the last visible on the screen, where usually the Description was still visible. So some older users just type there automatically, new users don't think about scrolling further to get to the description field. I can configure fields and enable/disable them, but i can't find if i can rearrange them maybe.
Hey, thanks for the hint. I was able to switch the default renderer for the Environment field to "Default text renderer" as per https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/specifying-field-behavior-861253403.html
Btw, it says here https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/configuring-renderers-861253418.html that Wiki style is the default. It probably has changed in the new update as i don't think someone changed it on our side.
P.S. i haven't replied earlier as my spam filter was blocking the notifications because of "Sender's domain is missing DNS records". Someone from Atlassian should look into that..
Hi wroot - changes to the order or style of the fields there would have been made by a JIRA Adminstrator in your JIRA site/instance.
It sounds like perhaps an admin has changed the renderer of the 'Environment' field, so that it has all the formating options, rather than just being a plain text box.
Re-ordering the fields on the create screen so that 'Description' is above 'Environment' might help.
There's info here about how an administrator can move a field, so that it shows higher on the screen: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/defining-a-screen-861253436.html#Definingascreen-Configuringascreen'stabsandfields
If you have admin rights, you could do it yourself. Othewise, you should contact the administrator of the particular JIRA site/instance that you are using, and ask them to make the change.

No worries.
On the DNS / email notifications, I think Atlassian are looking into it. They keep mentioning that email notification issues are the #1 issue being addressed right now.
If you are feeling community-minded you could comment on one of these threads about the issue(s):

One way to make it easier for users is to split the fields over different tabs.
Like this:
Again, info on how to do that is here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/defining-a-screen-861253436.html#Definingascreen-Configuringascreen'stabsandfields
