Repress email notifications to assignee and unwatch all tasks during CSV import?

Ivan Garcia June 26, 2023

I have an issue currently wherein I am creating tasks for my team, specifically, via a CSV import using a template. But after the import, the assignee is bombarded with 100+ email notifications (depending on the number of imported tasks) and I am a watcher on all the created tasks, even when I am not the assignee.

I am curious if there is a setting or additional step I can perform to:

  • Prevent mass emails from being sent to the assignee during a CSV import
  • To have the importer/creator of these bulk issues automatically unwatch all tasks/subtasks they create.

Thank you!

Hi @Ivan Garcia

Welcome to the community!

I had this issue in the past and solved it by creating a notification scheme called Mute. In this scheme, there are no associations to any event.

Just before the bulk import I swapped the usual project notification scheme with the Mute scheme.

Then I did the import and after the import reverted to the normal notification scheme.

You need Jira admin permissions to create the scheme and project admin permissions to change the project notification scheme.

This is great @Diogo Teles !
