Required fields within a ticket

April Siebart August 26, 2020

Hi!

I think I know the answer to this, which is no - but want to reach out to the community to be sure.

Can an if then be set within the ticket create screen?

The idea is:

1. If a ticket is non-billable, then a non billable reasoning is required

2. If a ticket is needed for client to Go Live, then what is the clients expected go live date?

Right now, I have all fields set as required so they are not missed, but I want to try to eliminate unnecessary data if possible.

Ty!

Hi April,

Unfortunately, the answer is no it is not possible with Jira Cloud. You could put a Validator on the transition to the next status in the workflow, but the person moving it there is not always the person who created the ticket and might not now the value to put in the ticket.

ah, thank you - I was going to respond to @GR above that I can use validators within the workflow but looking at the specific fields when creating a ticket - not transitions within a workflow.Annotation 2020-08-26 104618.png

Hi @April Siebart

You may want to invest in a jira app such as scriptrunner for achieving this
