Hi,

My Server has recently been compromised. I rolled back to a recent VM backup but unfortunately, my data has rolled back with it. I thought that the data is stored in a separate database that has not been touched... Am I misunderstanding the purpose of the Jira Database or is there some way to utilize the latest data?

If the database is separate to the VM, then your roll-back of the VM will not have changed it.

However, it will have destroyed your index and cache (and attachments by the way).

To fix this, simply run a full locking re-index of the system.  It will discard the mismatched index and rebuild a new one from the database, which should make all your data (except attachments) reappear.

Is your Jira Database stored on the same server that was rolled back, or on a separate server?

If it is on the same server, then it is logical that the database got rolled back if you rolled back the entire VM.

Hi @Michael Ilewicz ,

The data is kept in the database, if you didn't touch that database, your data should still be the same.

Only attachments are stored on the server, so there are probably some missing.
