Roles creation in JIRA based on projects

Hi Team,

We have several projects created in JIRA however each project has unique demand with respect to project roles.

If I create a new role it get reflected across all the projects. I want to create roles specific to project. Is that possible?

Hi @Neeta Dubey

Roles reflect across all projects, however the users/groups in that role are project specific. Same role can be utilised across different projects but it may have different set of users/groups.

I don't think we can restrict roles to a project. As a best practice roles should be named as generic as possible and can be used in permission schemes, notification schemes, issue security schemes etc

Thanks
Lava

Lava is right, roles are global.

People don't actually see roles very much though, and you should try to share them as much as possible, as Lava said.

I can't actually imagine a useful story that would lead to hundreds of project specific roles.
