SSO Users vs. Users created in JIRA

Hi All,

We are currently investigating Atlassian Access as a way to connect to our Azure AD SSO/Identity Provider.

My question is centered around users who have been created in Atlassian user management (Jira > Admin > User management) directly vs users who will be provisioned through Azure (Application assigned to user).

What happens to usera@example.com who has been set up in Atlassian directly vs usera@example.com when they sign in through Azure AD? Will the two user accounts (same email address) be merged into one? What happens to all their work/posts/assignment?

Looking forward to some guidance regarding this.

Hi @Al Yes, if you have the domain verified that the user belongs to, then the user account will be merged and the users should be able to sign in through Azure AD. Their work and assignments will be retained.
