Saving Time Logged into next Sprint

Hi,

Does anyone know if when carrying over a user story from one sprint to the next whether you lose the time logged against it? 

Eg. I've worked on a user story and have logged 3 hours against it. I didn't quite complete it so I carry over the user story to the next sprint but then I lose the 3 hours I logged against it. 

Is it possible to keep the time logged or is this how Jira works? 

We are using Tempo to log our time. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
