Scheduled issues: what's that for?

Vladislav September 28, 2020

Hello!

I thought "scheduled issues" is some kind of feature to create and manage repeating processes. Like correspondation, purchases, stuff like that. But with all those "triggers" and "cron expressions", im starting to think im wrong. Anyway i need an instrument with a reminders like "send this to Mr.Green at Fr, 12am", "meeting with mrs.Grey at hall at 3pm till 3:30 pm" and an option to change a status for my CEO can see that. Please help me with that

Apologies for mistakes, not my native language :)

Hi @Vladislav ,

Yes, you can do all of those things with the Scheduled trigger. I even use it to bulk change values where I am copying different text of date values between fields.

I think most people would probably use it for email reminders - I also do that.

Thank you, John! Maybe you know: are there any instructions how to use all those option? Like "dynamic" start/end date  and an option "Skip after manual"

Here's a little more info:

There are two types of automation:

  • Global: In the Free version, you get 100 executions per product, per month
  • Project: In all versions, you get unlimited executions per month

Automation Basics: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/guides/expand-jira/automation

You can do this via global rules to apply to all projects also. You'll need to be a Jira Admin/Site Admin, go to Jira Settings > System > Automation Rules (left-hand menu).

For more on using Automation For Jira see these help pages.
