Scheduling Issues into a Sprint instead of month long activity

I am trying to use Advanced Roadmaps to do do sprint planning. When I hover over the plan to scheduled a task it always gives me a bar that is 31 days long rather than the length of our Sprints, which are two weeks. 

In the normal Timeline on a Board, I can schedule by Sprint, but can't work out the settings for the Advanced Roadmap to be able to do this.

I have the Timeline view in my Advanced Roadmap set to group by Team and have show capacity turned on, so the future scheduled Sprints are showing up.

The issue source is a single Scrum Board in a Company Managed Project, which is where our sprints are created.

The Plan settings are set to use Inferred Dates of Sprint Dates.

Edit. As I mentioned, you can do this in the Timeline on the Board with the Sprints (the same Board that is the Issue Source for my Advanced Roadmap). Would like to be able to do the same on the Advanced Roadmap, so that I don't have to switch back and forth.

You should be able to set the time horizon of your plan. From the bottom right of your screen, select a custom time range and specify dates to match your sprint:

On a side note: sprint planning may be done more easily from the scrum board instead, as it essentially comes down to assigning issues to the sprint. The duration of those issues is then aligned to the sprint start and end dates.

In addition: to add issues into a sprint from advanced roadmaps, make sure to make the sprint custom field visible in the list of fields, next to your issues. You then add issues to a sprint by selecting the desired sprint in that field.

Thanks for the feedback Walter, but neither of those really solve my problem. 

We are trying to do advanced planning to see how long a set of epics will take, do capacity management etc. So we want to be able to schedules Issues into sprints as we are estimating the number of sprints an epic will take. and then be able to see the big picture. Ideally we would do that without having to switch back and forth between the backlog, the timeline in the scrum board and the Advanced Roadmap.

So setting the view to a single sprint won't help.

And using the Sprint field defeats the entire point of having a timeline.

If I go into the Timeline on the board and hover over the timeline in line with an issue, I get a sprint-long time bar and when I click it schedules into the relevant sprint.

I would like to be able to do that on the Advanced Roadmap to take advantage of its more powerful features. It does not make sense to me that the default length of an Issue is 1 month, instead of a sprint length. If the "inferred dates" are supposed to be Sprint dates, why is it not inferring the sprint dates?
