Script Runner Permissions for Non-Admins

Service API November 11, 2020

Does anyone know if its possible to provide access to an Application add-in (scriptrunner) to a non-admin user.

I just want to give said user permissions over this application only.

Thanks in advance.

David,

Depending on the add on, there may be ways to give non administrators some control over aspects of the app. Scriptrunner doesn't have any way that I'm aware of to grant access to the add on without being an admin. Given that Scriptrunner has the potential to impact so much of the system, I'm sure this is by design. You don't want users without administration rights making changes across the system, as they can do with Scriptrunner.

Thanks Kian, we are just looking at dividing up roles and responsibilities. In most systems you are able to do this by locking down access and visibility.

Cheers.

Hi David,

yes, there are settings to fine tune permissions - you would have to check if it is suitable for your needs.

Script Edit Permissions for ScriptRunner, gives Jira system administrators the ability to restrict which administrators can edit scripts, based on groups. Users with Jira system administrators or Jira administrators global permissions have script editing permissions by default. This feature allows script editing permissions to be restricted to a smaller group of administrators.

For me it reads you still have to define an admin group which you can grant permissions then. Also this refers to "Script Edit Permissions" - so to make it short: please evaluate if this is useful to you at all.

All further information can be found on:

Cheers,
Daniel
