Send emails when moving Kanban cards using Greenhopper simplified workflow?

We created a Kanban board using Greenhopper's simplified workflow but we are disappointed that email notifications are not sent when cards are moved between columns. Also, I cannot figure out how to have a screen pop-up when a card is moved. Are these two actions possible with simplified workflow?

Two questions in one, the first depends on JIRA firing an Event such that the standard JIRA IssueEvent Listener (or a third party one) can respond to your projects Notification Scheme. Assuming you already have such a notification scheme in place, check IssueUpdated, add yourself explicitly see what happens.

Thanks Andy. I am able to get emails sent using events in a regular Jira workflow, but Greenhopper has a special "simplified workflow". If I edit this simplified workflow will this cause issues for Greenhopper?

Hmm, I don't have experience of that, a similar question seems to indicate that GreenHopper does not publish events, so therefore it won't be possible to drive an email generation that way.
