Our a while back bought out another company and now we have some users in one slack workspace and some in another. I'm trying to create a slack notification in JIRA automation by using webhook created for another purpose, but overriding it by entering a specific users's ID. This works for all the users that share my workspace, but it's giving me an error for users in the other workspace. How can I make this work for users in both workspaces?
What you need to do in this case is use different send message actions for each workspace.
This is because Slack webhook tokens or even the API use the user reference from your creation workspace and cannot reach a different workspace, so you will need to have a Slack App or webhook token and create an automation rule for this second webhook.
If you use an automation in your Jira using a webhook from your second workspace and the recipient of this message is a user from the second workspace, this should work.
