Services Desk with Approval - Purchase Amounts

Good afternoon everyone!

I was wondering, is it possible to have a field in which a service desk agent inputs a certain cost value, which then triggers weather or not the agent requires approval for a purchase. 

for example;

A customer places a request for a new laptop, however after research, this laptop costs £600 to meet the requirements for the role. the agent then input the cost amount into the Jira ticket which would then approve the purchase or forward it to the selected approver.

 

At the moment, I cannot see how to implement this into Jira other than having the the approver field hidden from the customer portal and having an agent input an approver once they have priced up a task.

I would look at creating a custom field say “approval required” that is either yes or no. Then use automation to trigger on the value and transition into the “waiting approval” status or the “approved” status if no approval needed.

now you could simply this by simply training your agents to approve anything under $500 bypassing the approver.
