I need to be able to copy the value of one custom field to the value of a different custom field during a transition (postfunction) between an Epic and a story. I understand copying one field value to another field value during the parent-subtask relationship, but am running into the problem when it comes to linked issues.

Example: My Epic includes a value, Account Name. Off of the Epic, a user builds a Story that includes the field Advertiser Name (more widely used internally than Epic). I need the value of Account Name in the Epic to pull down into the Story as Advertiser Name. Can anybody offer some guidance? Thanks

Hi Jordan,

You can do that using the "Copy value from field to field" post-function of Jira Misc Workflow Extensions app. Add the post-function to the "Create" transition of the Story workflow, select the "Account Name" field as the Source field and the "Advertiser Name" as the Destination field. Save the post-function and publish the workflow.

Hi, @Jordan Lem !

ScriptRunner for Jira will be excellent solution to your case,

It has post-function 'Clones an issue and links',

also you can read this article.
