Sharing a filter is working, but the epic link and component are not visible to my shareholders

The question basically says it all... I am trying to share a filter with some of my shareholders who don't have Jira access. I have the "view issues" in this particular project set to "anyone" in the permission scheme since there is no truly sensitive info for my org. When I share the link, they are able to see everything I want them to except for the epic link and component, which is exactly what they want to see.

I did notice when I am troubleshooting in incognito mode that I'm unable to change the columns in the filter view, so even if I check for both the epic link and component to show, it doesn't save. However, I can change the filters at the top no problem.

Even odder, is that in the "detail view" of the filter, (again in incognito mode) I can see both the component and the epic link, it's just refusing to show up in the "list view", which leads me to believe that it's not a permission issue...

Any help is much appreciated!

If you want to share a filter, make sure the system view is the filter you want to share, and then, even non logged in users will see the filter that you want.

Hi Monica,

Which user did you use to troubleshoot in incognito mode? By list view are you referring to the view in issue search?

Are they not seeing the "Epic link" field? Or they can see the link but can't view the epic?

Hi @Nguyen Tran

In incognito mode, it shows me as a non logged in user, which is my intention since my shareholders do not have jira access. I've provided some screenshots below to help clarify my questions. ANy ideas?

List vs Detail view:

List View in incognito browser:

incognito_list_view.pngDetail view in incognito mode (as you can see the component and epic link are visible to the non logged in user which is why I don't believe it's a permission issue):Detail_View.png

This is the filter screen of list view I see as a logged in user ( non incognito). Logged_In_Filter_view.png

Then, when I open the exact URL in an incognito mode, you can see that even though the filter above is the same, the columns are not. The columns I added are gone, and the ones I removed are showing again.

Hi @Monica Ross,

Those are the default column showing. It is because they are not logged in so your setting doesn't stay. When logged in user make change to their column setting it will retains for their username. However, because non logged in user will be recognized as different users every time, the setting will not retain. I think you will need to instruct them on how to set the column they want to see. They can press on the "Column" button I highlight here to make their own setting. The problem is they will have to do it every time.

2000.pngThere is also a thread on this, you can read more about it here.

Hope this helps,
